Who is Julius LaFlamme?
Julius LaFlamme is a music director, pianist, arranger, performer, and educator based in New York City. Originally from the seacoast of New Hampshire, Julius began playing piano at age eight and fell in love with the instrument two years later. Their first musical experience came as a performer in a community production of Anne of Green Gables, but it was at age fifteen when they conducted a professional regional production of American Idiot, that Julius discovered their passion for leading from the podium.
Julius went on to study Musical Theatre Writing and Professional Music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where they honed their skills as a pianist across a wide range of styles, including jazz, classical, musical theatre, pop, rock, and funk, and developed a strong foundation in collaboration. After Berklee, Julius was hired as the music director for the national tour of Hairspray (2022–2023, 271 performances), followed by the tour of Mean Girls (2023–2025, 512 performances).
Now based in NYC, Julius continues to pursue musical theatre opportunities, bringing passion, clarity, kindness, and leadership to every project they work on.
